Interested in Adopting a Pet?
Pictures and descriptions of our available animals are accessed through Animals are added as they become available. A trip to the shelter is always the best way to find your next pet.  Animal care Supervisors at the shelter can help you pick out the best pet for your family.

To help speed up the application process, you can fill out the pre-approval application and bring it to the shelter with you. Or, send it in via e-mail to and we'll get it processed as soon as possible.
Surrendering your Pet?

Due to the ever increasing population of stray cats and people needing to rehome their privately owned cats, the Menominee Animal Shelter has implemented a Managed Admission Policy.  We will no longer take “walk ins” who want to surrender or turn in a stray cat.  We are maintaining a “call list”.  What this means is we ask you to call us to let us know you need to bring in a cat.  We will put you on a list and call you when kennel space becomes available.

When the shelter is overcrowded with cats, they all get sick and become unadoptable until treated.  With the Managed Admission, we do not get overcrowded and our cats are healthy, thus reducing their time spent at the shelter before they go to their new adopted home.  This is much better for the new home and the cats.

SO  PLEASE, if you are planning on moving and have given your notice to your landlord, give notice to the shelter at the same time to let us know you will need to be bringing your cat in.  If you found a stray outside, call us to get on the list.  If the cat is owned by somebody, it may go home before we call you, thus getting the cat back to its owner.  If you do not want the cat hanging around your house, do NOT feed it.  Cats will stay where there is food offered.

The Menominee Animal Shelter does not charge to surrender your pet. But a monetary donation is welcome, this will help us care for your pet while waiting for the appropriate adopter.

Also, please bring along any medical records for vaccinations, and any possessions that you would like to go along with the pet (toy, bed, blanket, ect.). Filling out the Surrender forms before you come can help quicken the process, but is not required.
